2 CD Grover Washington Jr.: Gold (2006)
One of the most popular saxophonists of all time (even his failures had an impressive record sales), Grover Washington for a long time set the tone in jazz, performing laconic, contrast, and nobly beautiful melodies. Its roots were in the rhythm-and-blues and soul-jazz combo, but it also felt good in those rare instances when played clean jazz. Had great influence on many young musicians, Washington sometimes received reproaches for performing the shortcomings of his followers (eg, Kenny G (Kenny G.) focused primarily his soprano sound on Grover's sound). Washington is usually best manifested itself in concerns speeches, becoming almost sverhprofessionalom in music and rhythm and blues, which he largely fulfilled. He established his own personal, unique sound on the soprano, tenor and alto (and even rarely used baritone). Grover Washington was recorded as a leader in the studios Kudu, Motown, Elektra, and Columbia, and dignity appeared as a guest musician on dozens of albums from pop to jazz streytforvard.
