Kitaro's first album was released in 1978. It was called "Ten Kai". According to fans, is a cult. Here Kitaro first mixed American, European and Asian musical cultures, proving that the East and West can "sound" together. This was music written to order Japan Broadcasting Corporation NDK, for multiseries documentary TV film "Silk Road" ("Silk Road"). This "live", meditative music, consisting of simple and slow tunes, brought him national and international fame. Kitaro wrote it while living in a small village in the district Nagano (central Japan), away from civilization and chaos, and that was reflected in the music.
In 1979, Kitaro has released a second album - "From the Full Moon Story" ("History of Full Moon"). The first two albums became a cult among fans of the nascent movement while New Age ("New Century"). Kitaro himself describes his music spiritual. "The feeling - the most important element in my music" - he says.
In 1985, Kitaro signed with Geffen Records. His albums began to spread in the U.S. market. In 1987, together with Mickey Hart'om, Kitaro has released new album - "The Light Of The Spirit" ("Light of the Spirit"), from which the track The Field finally nominated for the Grammy. Sales of his albums have grown to 10 million a year.
In 1993, with Randy Miller'a, Kitaro composed the music for the film "Heaven And Earth" ("Heaven and earth"), and in 1997, for the film "The Soong Sisters" ("Sister Song"). He received a Golden Globe nomination for the most original music for the film "Heaven And Earth". It won the Golden Horse in Taiwan on Gonkongovskom International Film Festival for the most original music for the film "The Soong sisters". Kitaro many times nominated for awards Grammy, and finally got it in 2001 for the album "Thinking of you" was released in 1999.
